Projects

Our projects are mainly focused on keeping our community clean and free from waste, creating new, affordable housing rather than endless blocks of student accommodation and protecting our parks and green spaces. We are currently expanding our projects and will update in due course.

HAGSA (Housing And Greenspace Activism)

HAGSA is a grassroots network of local individuals standing up for the interests of our local communities in Edinburgh regarding housing and greenspace issues.

Pushing for a fair, green deal for Edinburgh, we aim to safeguard and improve our public housing and green spaces for future generations. We want to enjoy and celebrate the very essence of our local communities.

Housing Activism

We believe we should all be looking to deliver more affordable housing for our communities and less Purpose Built Student Accommodations.

1. Gorgie Dalry is being relentlessly targeted by PBSA developers and we campaign against their planning proposals because affordable accommodation should be prioritised.

2. Push to accelerate the building of more public and social housing to rent out for affordable prices for public benefit.

3. Push to restrict short-term lets with a workable regulation/licensing system which urgently needs to be implemented as soon as possible.

Keep Gorgie Clean

This is a campaign to increase more sanitation resources in Gorgie and Dalry so we can improve the local standards and help keep our area clean. To do this, we encourage everyone to use the appropriate services for waste collection and to manage their rubbish responsibly so the Council can improve their waste service.

This includes weekly walkabouts to report any litter, dog waste or fly tipping in the local area by taking photos and reporting via Twitter to @edinhelp (Council services) with specific location for action. We find this to be the quickest and easiest method.
